Whatever your lifestyle, there are some basic pieces that should be the building blocks for that particular wardrobe

PROFESSIONAL WOMAN or RE-ENTERING THE WORKFORCE

If you are currently a professional woman or have been out of the workforce for a while, you may be a bit uncertain as to what clothing is currently appropriate.

Following is a list of basic items which will get you started. You should consider them  “investment pieces” and, as such, buy good quality.

• Black Trouser
• Pencil Skirt
• White Shirt
• Knit Shirt - White or Black
• Blazer/Jacket
• Dress
• Cardigan - Color

BUSINESS CASUAL

It seems every workplace has its own definition of Business Casual. In order to be comfortable yet retain a professional look, I suggest the following:

• PANTS
• Jeans (if allowed) Dark wash, straight leg, no tears or rips
• Neutral or black -no wild patterns
• TOPS
• Solid or pattern - no low cut or cropped
• COVER UP
• Casual Jacket or bright colored cardigan
• FOOTWEAR
• Comfortable, but no sneakers, sandals or flip-flops
• BLING
• Don’t over-do it

LEISURE

You can still look  smart while pursuing leisure activities if you choose your wardrobe carefully:

• DRESS FOR THE LOCATION
• Beachwear is not appropriate for the street or club
• LESS IS MORE
• Unless you are under 18 years old, be careful of how much skin you are showing
• BE COMFORTABLE, NOT SLOPPY
• Oversize clothing will only make you look oversized
• Torn, frayed or ripped clothing is a no-no
• USE A FULL LENGTH MIRROR
• Be sure you know what you look like “coming & going”
